You might have wondered more than once whether the data stored in your cards are safe when you are at the airport or in other public spaces. RFID (radio-frequency identification) is the information the chips in your cards provide authorised readers in order to perform cash machine transactions, open doors and gates, contactless payments, etc.
The data provided by the chips include from your identity to information on your accounts. This information is private and confidential, and attractive to thieves. At Pielnoble we are committed to the protection of this information.
How can we protect the data?
Chips provide the data recorded in a passive manner, this means that they do not transmit information by themselves. However, readers collect the information of chips by radio-frequency. Authorised readers make transactions, accesses, etc. easier. Pielnoble offers the best protection against unwanted readings in its leather goods, by means of an effective shield which blocks the transmission of the cards located in the protected compartment. If you want one of the cards to be available for quick readings you can choose the compartment with grid, which allows the readings of the first visible card.

Pielnoble have started this year with many new things! At the beginning of April you will find in your usual shops, and also in our online store, a new collection of gentleman’s casual wallets. We have given preference to small sizes and practical internal departments. Wallets and accessories are made in cowhide and are available in black, brown and green colors.
Also this year we begin to incorporate into all our purses and wallets the RFID protection which prevents unwanted readings of our credit cards and personal documentation that can be read contactless.
In the coming weeks we will present you all the new lines we have prepared for you! We hope you like it a lot.
One of our main focus points when designing wallets and purses, is their interior distribution. Fitting many things in a small (and thin) space is not easy.
Lately, many of our customers choose smaller models, while others still choose bigger wallets and purses. At the end of the day, it is all a matter of taste and usability.
The Pielnoble design team always aims to create rational interiors: cards must be tiered and they cannot add extra thickness. Notes must be accessible and the coin purse must be comfortable. Apart from this, there must be space for some tickets and papers.
Sometimes, this distribution might seem to be in conflict with the design of the wallet, but we are convinced that this is the best solution, because with time, well structured and comfortable interiors determine if our wallets achieve what they have been designed for.
At Pielnoble we have always believed in a sustainable productivity and consumption model. Sometimes against what “the market” orders, we prefer to manufacture goods which last over time, even if this means not being able to offer prices similar to the ones imposed by large chain stores, based on producing fleeting fashion cheap goods which practically become disposable products.
At the end of the day, the most ecologically sustainable products are the ones that last over time and, although they might seem expensive at first, if we compare the investment and durability at the end of their useful life, they are clearly profitable, both from an economical and a sustainable consumption point of view.
Products must also be fair and provide decent labour and salary conditions to the persons who make them. When we buy shoes for €19.90, for example, do you think this is a fair price?
If we take into account that all the parties involved must make a profit: the manufacturer of the shoe, the company that has produced the leather, the sole, the buckle, the transport company, the salesperson who offers it to the stores so we have the shoe near our homes… no matter how many shoes are manufactured, at some point of the chain, there is slave labour.
Are Pielnoble goods expensive? They might not be as cheap as others, but apart from unexpected events which we always try to solve as best as possible, the majority of our goods last very long and their value reflects the effort involved in making them.
